Omar Amr is renowned for his perseverance in the water polo world. Too small, they said, to play at a high level he excelled at UC Irvine. In 2000 he was among the final cuts from the USA Men’s Senior National Team but pressed on, enough so to be selected for the 2004 version. Then on to Harvard for a medical degree and a career as an emergency room physician.
This KCAL9 feature covers his out-of-the-ordinary career – the son of Egyptian immigrants who ascended to the heights of American water polo.
