Houston native Chris Radmonovich has stepped down as coach of Wagner College’s men’s and women’s varsity water polo programs. The college announced his immediate departure on July 26. Wagner Athletic Director Brendan Fahey said Radmonivich was leaving for “family reasons” according to Swimming World.
Radmonivich won a school-record 223 games with the women’s team and was named MAAC Coach of the Year three times in his nine-year tenure. He added the newly-formed men’s varsity team to his head-coaching portfolio in 2015 and finished with 42 wins.
Radmanovich played for the defunct varsity program at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock, then at Texas A&M after it was dropped by the Arkansas school. He graduated from the University of Houston in 2002.
Prior to his Wagner hiring he spent six years in California, three at the University of Pacific following a stint as Head Coach at Stockton’s St. Mary’s HS, which he led to seven league titles while earning a reputation for one of the feistiest programs in California.
Radmonovich was the sole Texas native in NCAA water polo head coaching ranks prior to his resignation.
