Twice a Sullivan Award semi-finalist, US National Team, Princeton, and all-everything goalie Ashleigh Johnson has earned finalist status this year. The vote will take place on April 11 and is open to fans via the Amateur Athletic Union web site.

In 2016 Johnson helped lead Team USA to an Olympic Gold Medal in Rio, where she was selected Top Goalkeeper. It was a good year for the phenom who also earned:

  • 2016 Women’s Sports Foundation Sports Woman of the Year
  • 2016 ESPNW #IMPACT25 Selection
  • 2016 Swimming World Magazine Female Water Polo Player of the Year
  • 2016 FINA Women’s Water Polo Team of the Year

The organization has handed out the award since 1930 as an homage to Sullivan, founder and former president of the AAU. The award is founded on “the qualities of leadership, character, sportsmanship, and the ideals of amateurism.”
