Sarusi Hired as San Jose State Women’s Head Coach

San Jose State men’s water polo Assistant Coach Gabor Sarusi has been tabbed to become the school’s third varsity women’s coach. Sarusi was hired as an assistant for the men’s team in the summer of 2015 and will replace Johnny Bega, whose contract was not renewed after three seasons at the helm.

San Jose State Athletic Director Gene Bleymeyer made the announcement on Tuesday:

“We are delighted Gabor is taking over our nationally-ranked women’s water polo program. In his one season with our men’s program, he demonstrated a keen knowledge of the sport, passion and compassion for his players and understood the importance of the total student-athlete experience. We look forward to Gabor bringing these traits to our women’s program.”

Sarusi and his team are scheduled to begin their next competitive season in full beginning in January of 2017.
