Naperville Central completed an undefeated season as their boys won the school’s first ever Illinois high school water polo championship. The Redhawks defeated hosts and repeat runners-up Stevenson 8-5 on Saturday.

After an early exit in the quarterfinals of last year’s state tournament, the Naperville Central boys water polo team made up for it and then some by tripping up powerhouse Stevenson 8-5 for the program’s first state title in water polo.

Since 2002 the Redhawks have placed second in the tournament three times, the last in 2010.
