FEATURE: USC’s Colorful, Legendary Jovan Vavic

One of the greats in American water polo is also arguably one of the the least well known. In a relatively short time Jovan Vavic has become among the most successful coaches in collegiate history with nine national championships and the recent honor of being voted coach of the century by the Pac-12 Network and Total Waterpolo readers.

The story behind his ascent is less prominent. Less so now after a feature by Los Angeles Magazine which revealed Vavic’s start at the age of eight in Montenegro, and how his American experience began with an LA waitering gig prior to landing a coaching position.
