Redlands East Valley was supposed to be the team of the future. With four freshmen in its starting lineup, the Wildcats’ best years were thought to be ahead of them.

The young ’Cats didn’t follow that plan. Against all conventional wisdom, they became the team of the present.
Freshman Chad Gornay scored two goals, freshman goalkeeper Harrison Land made 14 saves, and REV completed its playoff run with 7-5 win over top-seeded Claremont in the CIF-Southern Section Division 5 championship game.
