Lodi, St. Francis Dethrone Davis; Ripon Wins First Sac-Joaquin Water Polo Title

It has become nearly an annual tradition, Davis High School taking home at least one CIF Sac-Joaquin Section water polo championship. Not so this fall.

The St. Francis girls and Lodi boys together ended that streak each beating the powerhouse Blue Devils in Division 1 title matches on Saturday. Both earned one-goal victories against Davis.

Ripon emerged as a first time titleist winning the boys’ Division 3 championship convincingly.

Junior Sally Ferguson scored two times in the fourth period to help St. Francis to a 6-5 victory over Davis to the win the Sac-Joaquin Section Division I Championship.

“I am actually numb,” said Head Coach Heather Moody. “There is a group of girls that I have been working with for the last three years, 10 amazing seniors, that really set the tone for this year and took ownership of the whole group, leading and truly believing.”
