The boys of second-seeded Cumberland Valley plowed through three quality opponents to win the 2015 Pennsylvania high school water polo championship. A 10-4 outcome in the title match, plus a convincing win over Cathedral Prep, propelled the Eagles to another state trophy, their fourth overall and first since 2011.
SINKING SPRINGS — Cumberland Valley boys water polo took first at the Pennsylvania Prep Boys Championship, beating out Pennridge, Cathedral Prep and North Penn.
The tournament is decided by a single elimination tournament of eight best teams in the state. To qualify Cumberland Valley had to win at their conference championship last week.
The Eagles’ toughest challenge of the tournament came in the gold medal game, where the second-ranked Eagles the North Penn Knights, 10-4.
“No matter what the seed, we have to handle the pressure of championship play,” CV coach Corey Pelow said. I’m proud these guys stepped up.”
