San Jose State began its first season in 34 years with a packed house and a six-goal margin of victory over visiting Santa Clara on Saturday. The unique Spartans roster features eight junior college transfers, four Europeans, and players from Oregon and Pennsylvania high schools, enough talent to stay well clear of the Broncos, who finished 2014 ranked 19th.
The win lifted San Jose State two spots in this week’s CWPA poll, from 16th to 14th.
