On day one of the 52nd Settecolli international tournament in preparation for the upcoming World League Super Final in Bergamo, Hungary and Croatia emerged victorious in Rome on Friday. Hungary kicked off the action by beating USA 7-13 behind Daniel Varga’s 4 goals while Italy and Croatia played a thriller only to be decided in the game’s final stages. After Croatia had established a 10-8 lead it was Italy who stormed back by scoring three goals in a row to overtake their opponents. But two defensive errors by the home side decided the outcome. Fran Paskvalin drew a penalty who was converted by Antonio Petkovic and just over half a minute from the end Damir Buric could sign for the winning goal for Croatia as they narrowly won 11-12 at Foro Italico.
