Lacking an official state or even regional championship to punctuate their spring season the girls of Greenwich High School finished with the next best thing. The Cardinals continue to demonstrate their dominance as they await the rise of more competitive programs in Connecticut and the region.
The Greenwich High School girls water polo team couldn’t have scripted a better finish to its season on Saturday — which also happened to be its Senior Day. The Cardinals went a perfect 3-0 in their annual invitational tournament, defeating rival Greenwich Aquatics along the way. Host Greenwich edged Greenwich Aquatics in its first game of the day, 9-5, then posted a 16-7 win over Navy, before notching a 14-7 triumph over North Penn. Carlson (two goals), Sodokoff (one goal), Ella Jomo (one goal), Madison Ellsworth (four goals), Bellamy (two goals), Samantha Bear (one goal), Kellen Carlson (one goal) and Anne Robinson (four goals) paced Greenwich’s win over Navy Aquatic Club.
