LISTEN: SJSU Men to Lead Exodus to New Conference Says Watson

BruceWatsonTV

The reconstituted men’s program at San Jose State, along with several other yet-to-be-named teams, will break away to join the Golden Coast Conference within the next few years. New Spartans head coach Bruce Watson broke that news on the most recent version of The Counter Attack with Greg Mescall.

The GCC, which began operating two seasons ago with women’s varsity water polo, will likely earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament in the near future, Watson added. Those details and many others regarding the first new men’s varsity program since 1981: take a listen via the player embedded, or subscribe to The Counter Attack with Greg Mescall on iTunes.

The Spartans are back! Coach Watson is a great coach and the right person to bring SJSU Mens Water Polo back to the top in college water polo. Go spartans!

We’re glad to know the great Steve Hamann reads TWp! The addition of programs at San Jose State, Fresno State, and St. Francis (PA) are all good signs for the sport.
