The Washington prep season ended with Bellevue rallying to win its fourth consecutive boys’ state championship on Saturday. The Wolverines withstood earlier losses to each of the other three teams that made it to Friday’s semi-final round to return to raise the title trophy.
Both Curtis and Roosevelt surprised Bellevue at their District tournament a week ago, and semi-final opponent Mercer Island beat the Wolverines in late September. Those losses apparently served as scouting fodder for Bellevue who defeated Mercer Island and Curtis by two goals each on the way to the state championship.
They end the season 21-7 including an impressive final-four performance at the San Diego Open tournament at the end of October.
