Ken Lindgren made his mark on American water polo mainly as head coach of the Long Beach State men over a 24-year span. The University has now honored that legacy by naming the improved campus aquatic center after him.
Wednesday’s ceremony drew over 200 observers who were presented this homage displayed on a new video board adorning the renovated facility. New lighting and seating were also donated as part of the upgrade.
Lindgren died last October. He was inducted in to the Long Beach State Hall of Fame in 1991 and is the only coach in US history to receive Olympic medals for both men’s and women’s water polo.
