For 30 years Ohio Water Polo has hosted a state championship for high school girls. With its victory on Saturday, Columbus’ Upper Arlington High School has now won nearly half of all girl’s state titles since 1985 and will make a run for their 15th in 2015.
The 2014 girls pulled away from runners up Napoleon in the championship to win 15-7 and cap a 28-2 season, both losses coming on the road to teams from Pennsylvania. Head Coach Dan Peterkoski now has a combined 16 Ohio prep championships and will attempt to win another with his U.A. boys at their state championship tournament beginning on Friday in Columbus.
