Well in to the 90s San Antonio-centered programs were winning TISCA (Texas) high school championships. In 2013, all but one area squad had dropped out of TISCA competition altogether, as we reported in December of 2012. The Northside ISD is home to several teams that formerly competed state-wide in the spring but now take part in a fall championship league exclusive to their district. Their season-ending tournament, The Alamo Cup, is under way, culminating in championship matches on Friday afternoon at the Northside ISD’s beautiful swim center.
Two teams among the favorites are Brandeis and O’Connor High Schools. The Helotes Echo sent a reporter to speak with coaches Teri Plotkin and Nick Haidan as the competition approached. Those conversations and some Northside ISC game action in this video.
