A sign of stability at Notre Dame of Ohio which today filled its vacant women’s varsity water polo coaching position with Derek Meyerson, a former Slippery Rock athlete and Mercyhurst coach. The job was vacated by Ryan Wynn earlier in the spring after he held the job for just a few months. The college announced Meyerson’s selection on its website on Friday.
Meyerson’s hiring is a positive signal for the school’s water polo program which abandoned its 2014 men’s season in August citing difficulty in recruiting and the lack of a local base of athletes. The women ended their spring 2014 campaign with a 2-19 record.
