Huntington Beach, CA – January 24 – USA Water Polo Men’s Senior National Team Interim Head Coach Jovan Vavic has announced the roster for the upcoming UANA World Aquatic Championship Qualification Tournament, set to start next week in Calgary, Canada. The roster features four returning Olympians from the squad that competed at the 2012 Olympic Games. Leading the way is four-time Olympian and Silver Medalist Ryan Bailey (Long Beach, CA/UC-Irvine/Newport WPF). Bailey is joined by three-time Olympians and fellow Silver Medalists in Jeff Powers (San Luis Obispo, CA/UC-Irvine/Newport WPF) and Jesse Smith (Coronado, CA/Pepperdine/NYAC). Goalkeeper Chay Lapin (Long Beach, CA/UCLA/NYAC) rounds out the returners from London. He is joined by fellow netminder and member of the 2011 FINA World Championship team, Andy Stevens (Villa Park, CA/LMU/NYAC).
The rest of the squad brings together a mix of veterans with international club experience and rising college stars that will compete with hopes of earning a berth to the FINA World Championships set for this summer in Barcelona, Spain.
