Bellarmine Prep and Serra High School host the Memorial Cup in Northern California this weekend. Some notes from day one of the event:
- Sacramento’s Rio Americano was forced to abandon its second match on Friday with the score tied 10-10 against tournament co-host Serra. Coach Tyson Frenn received a red card for tossing a chair during the match. The Raiders had no assistant coach on the bench at the time and were forced by rule to forfeit the match as a result. Frenn will be suspended for one game beginning on Saturday.
- Earlier on Friday underdog Serra kept their match uncomfortably close for Long Beach Wilson, down a goal at halftime. The Bruins responded to a subdued but irked Coach Martinho during the break and pulled away to win by eight, 17-9. Wilson’s Jackson Kimball is the most impressive prep center-forward TWp has seen this fall – yet.
- Overhead at Serra was a fan mentioning that someone was planning to stream his team’s games live via his mobile phone. Let TWp know and we’ll link your stream on the blog. The more live prep water polo online the better.
